Hello everyone, today is Friday. I hope everyone has a good weekend! Here is today's news!

Nintendo To Reveal New Console At This Years E3

It is being reported that Nintendo is going to reveal their new console at this year’s E3 in June. It is going to be capable of running games at “HD resolutions” and IGN is saying it is going to be significantly increased in power compared to the PlayStation 3 and the X-Box 360. Nintendo is intending to retake the hardcore gaming scene and is also being said to be able to give 1080p resolution. This new console is set to launch late into 2012 and it will release some sort of announcement later this month. It will be backwards compatible with the Nintendo’s Wii console and will also come with a new controller. This controller is also said to have a built-in screen with touch capability. This seems like a big step for Nintendo and I believe when this comes out they may either take the lead of console gaming or at least be tough competition.

Man Catches On Fire In An Adult Story

A man in San Francisco, California has been hospitatlized with injuries that may threaten his life as he was caught on fire in an adult bookstore. Lieutenant Troy Dangerfield said yesterday, that the man was seen on fire and running out of the Golden Gate Adult Superstore. This happened Wednesday at the South of Market neighbourhood. Dangerfield said that many passerby’s tried to help the man as he ran past them but the fire was put out by firefighters who happened to be close by. The man’s name has not been released and he was taken to St. Francis Memorial Hospital for severe burns. It is not said how the man had caught ablaze and the incident is still under investigation.

Eight Games That Set Graphical Benchmarks
http://gamingbolt.com/eight-games-that-set-new-graphical-benchmarks

GamingBolt.com has put out an article about eight games in which they believe set benchmarks for video game graphics. I’ll run through the list as well as give my opinion on them.

First game is Metal Gear Solid 2 (for its cinematics) which was released in 2001. At the time, this was the first game on the Playstation 2 that looked next gen and also had gamers excited about the quality. It was mostly recognized for its amazing cinematics and one of the few games that had an impact on cinematic storytelling. This game has shaped into what is now what of the best cinematical games of all time in my opinion, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Monster Maze 3D for the PC was the first 3D game ever developed and distributed. The game was released in 1981 and is credited for the beginning of 3D gaming as it made way for games like Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem and many others. It is not to be said that those games have not been influential or important in game history, but it is important to note that Monster Maze 3D was in fact the first game to implement three dimensional visuals.

Half Life 2 is notable for many things from its beautiful environment, awesome story, and the crowbar in which Gordon Freeman uses. One thing that is also important and is a bench mark in gaming history is the physics system that Valve implemented. This was one of the first, and probably the best, games that had realistic physics. Below is a video showing off its physics engine.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time was the first Zelda to be created with 3D graphics as opposed to the 2D in the older games in the series. The two Zelda games that were released on the Nintendo 64, Ocarina Of Time and Majora’s Mask are probably the most played in the series and likely the most popular. It is one of the first games that included a very far draw distance, which were shown realistically as the gaming area was actually that large in geographical terms.

Crysis for the is known, by GamingBolt.com, as one of the first to make PCs cry. The graphics in this game were so realistic that it almost looked like it was actually real. The game is an original shooter, developed by the people from Crytek. Far Cry was their first game but Crysis took those graphics to a new level. I think you will all get a better idea of this game’s graphics by the video below, as no words will do what the actually game play can show.

Uncharted 2 is one of the first console games to have such an incredible engine and the graphics it was developed with. This game put console gaming on an even playing field as PC gaming was on graphically. This game showed what the PlayStation 3 is capable of and I know many of you may say Metal Gear Solid 3 is what put the Playstation 3 to it’s limits, but Uncharted 2 is what put game play at it’s best.

This next game is a subject we have already covered, but Red Dead Redemption is one of those games that is known for its graphics. This game was amazing in terms of storyline and game play, but it is also known for its beautiful graphics. Much like Zelda’s Nintendo 64 games, Red Dead Redemption has a very impressive draw distance. This game’s map and area is very large and is much more of a sand box style game than the Zelda’s were. I know you may want to add Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto games to this argument, but Red Dead Redemption was way more beautiful and did have a larger draw distance. The Grand Theft Auto series lacked in actual draw distance as it was more of a city based game, whereas Red Dead Redemption is more of a roaming game.

Last on this benchmark game list is Heavy Rain for its work with motion capture. This game put motion capture into gaming better than any other game out there from its time. It was known for its realistic facial expressions, as well as animations. The characters actually looked like people acting out the part and this was new to the gaming world. Below is a video of the game play.

Before I conclude this article I would like to say that a game that may put a benchmark on graphics is L.A. Noire. It will make Heavy Rain’s motion capture a joke. I would like to end this article as well as my blogs main part with a trailer for L.A. Noire.

That’s it for tonight’s blog, I hope you enjoyed it. I leave you with a funny picture about apartments on Craigslist, as well as a funny letter a father left his daughter. Also I have three videos for you tonight. First up is a trailer for Casa De Mi Padre, which means House Of My Father in Spanish. What makes this movie so special is that Will Farrell is in this movie and his character only speaks Spanish, which will be interesting to see him play a Spanish man. The second video is Rebecca Black explaining her song “Friday.” I don’t know if this video is dubbed over or not but she tries to make this song sound like it means a lot more than it actually seems. Last is a funny video that got famous on YouTube of a girl who joins the Dark Side, at a Star Wars event. She was supposed to slay Darth Vader with “Mace Windu” by here side, but instead kneels to her new master. There is even a FaceBook page called Darth Sariah, dedicated to her.
