Fallen Legion Interview By Wheeling Rampage Productions

Who and where?

We are Fallen Legion from Oshawa, Ontario. We consist of Nick Sauter (Lead/rhythm Guitar), Dylan Waybrant (Percussion), Nick Eldridge (Lead Vocals), and Karsen Miller (Bass Guitar).

You have recently came back to Oshawa's metal scene from a hiatus. Could you give the readers a brief history of the band?

Two of the original band members (Sam, the other guitarist and Jon, the original bassist) left the band for different reasons. This left Nick Sauter, the guitarist, Dylan Waybrant, the drummer and Nick Eldridge, the singer to decide the fate of the band. After almost a year of writing new music, re-writing old music, and getting back into doing live shows, we were lucky to catch the attention of bassist Karsen Miller, who was an original FL fan. In less than a year, Karsen learned all of our originals, and is now contributing to the writing process. we've played more than ten shows since, and we now feel stronger than ever.

What kind of style of guitar is played and who is it inspired by?

Nick Sauter, the guitarist, writes many catchy riffs and rhythms that can be considered quite technical, but tries to create an appropriate flow of musical progression. He has many musical influences from all over the Metal/Rock map, including Dimebag Darrel, Dave Murray, Zakk Wylde, Dave Suzuki, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, and Jimi Hendrix.

What are your lyrics about?

Our lyrics describe self empowerment, and the dismissal of those who oppose us. They call attention to the natural fears we have as humans, and the desires we share as sinned individuals. Our lyrics are unnatural and employ a sense of shameful bliss to the listener.

As you become successful, for the second time, what do you see in 2011 for the band?

This time around, we are seeing a lot more collaboration within the local metal community. This creates opportunities for bigger shows, bigger fan bases, and generally more means to party with bands and fans. We love that good local metal shows are not a dying breed. We're excited to produce more merchandise and get back into the studio so that we have more to offer our valued friends and fans. 2011 is sure to be an exciting year for us in Fallen Legion.

Any final thoughts and comments?

Go support your local artists of any genre. It is becoming increasingly difficult for bands to make money playing shows, and it makes merchandise and recordings harder to attain. However, there are more ways than ever to find out what's happening in your community. Social networking is a huge benefit for reaching fans. Search Fallen Legion and "Like" us on Facebook, Subscribe to us on Youtube, and Follow us on Twitter!! We're working hard to ensure our friends, fans, and soon-to-be friends and fans hear the best of Oshawa's growing metal community. CHEERS AND KEEP IT METAL!! \m/
